19th July 2010 - Tbilisi. In the hall of the Iberia State University where Franco Vaccari received a degree honoris causa  in International Diplomacy and held his lectio magistralis, a woman stood up and asked if every student really knows what conflict means before getting to Rondine and if they understand what it means to experience the insuperable anger of losing one’s dearest   killed by the enemy.

“To receive a lot of pain you have to know how to contain it”, answered the president pragmatically. Not all the students of the International Hall of Residence have been directly involved in the tragedy of conflict. For some, instead, an individual story signed by tragedy makes living together with the enemy trigger unmentionable existential difficulties. All the students of Rondine have, in any case, modesty in their feelings and an authentic humility towards their past which permits an immediate knowledge and comprehension of others.

Choices related to the selection, training and management of the dynamics of the group which has to face the particular conditions of life at Rondine are necessary not to fail.

The objective is to call each one to “build a future for all”, in a process in which history is never limited to remain exclusively of the other. Individual experience becomes collective, “anger is transformed into a historical mission”, explained Franco Vaccari, proudly. Anger is the last manifestation of the incontrovertibility of facts, the evidence of the impossibility to recover existence after the violence of conflict. Before that comes the refusal for reality. Before that pain. Rondine puts itself after pain and anger, to prevent the arrival of hate and save youth from the continuity of conflict.

Mr. Vaccari’s biggest conquest has been to make his dream the reality of many people, his challenge, the deed to which everyone has tried to give their contribution. Having reached this goal together with all the others without leaving anybody behind measures the capacity of a man not to have dreamed in vain.
