A “friendship” meeting in the true sense of the word. “Among friends” as Ruben Karapetian, Armenian Ambassador in Italy, underlined more than once during last Friday’s meeting held in Arezzo and Rondine. Mr. Karapetian and his wife had a full agenda with many appointments with the highest authorities of the city, the young students of the international Hall of Residence of Rondine and some local entrepreneurs. Monsignor Riccardo Fontana, the Archbishop of Arezzo, opened the Ambassador’s day, then meetings with Mr. Giuseppe Caroti, president of the Municipal Council and the councilor Ulisse Domini, and the last institutional appointment was the one with the president of the Province Roberto Vasai. All these appointments  with Aretinian institutions were a chance to discuss the possibility of a new twinning between the Province of Arezzo and an Armenian province, still to be identified. It will be the Ambassador’s duty to chose the correct candidate for this friendship act between Armenia and our city, an act that would also crown Rondine’s efforts for the reconciliation of the Caucasian populations.

Straight after these appointments Karapetian moved to Rondine Cittadella della Pace and met the students to talk about the trip to Armenia in July, supporting the project and hoping it will be himself to welcome the delegation in Yerevan. Then Mr. Karapetian met some businessmen from Arezzo for a “Country presentation” trying to start up new economic exchanges between the two countries. The Ambassador, moreover, invited the businessmen to Milan next September, when 24 Armenian industrialists will meet their colleagues from Milan.
