Arezzo, 1st March 2010. ‘I am ready, in the name of the Government, to ratify every single word of your document in 14 points in favour of the peace process in the Caucasian region’ - said Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Giorgi Baramidze, last Tuesday 23rd February when meeting the students of Rondine Cittadella della Pace and the local authorities at the Hall of the Great of the Province of Arezzo (Tuscany, Italy).

Deputy premier Baramidze, also State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration, is the last political leader in order of time to receive the document developed and shared by around 150 contributors from the Caucasian region together with the students of the International Hall of Residence of Rondine, during the first Conference of the Peoples of the Caucasus organized by the Association in May 2009 at La Verna (Arezzo). An important goal which puts the city of Arezzo at the center of international attention for the promotion of a culture of co-operation and peace.

Accompanied by Konstantin Gabashvili, Georgian Ambassador in Italy, and his delegation, the Vice Minister started his day in Arezzo with the visit to Rondine Citadel of Peace, place of cohabitation and common study for university students coming from countries in conflict, where several students from the Caucasus also live.

The Vice Prime Minister was impressed by this reality made of sharing and unity within diversity and moved by the common objective of peace. ‘We will do anything to support this initiative’ he stated, adding that he would refer to Georgian President, Mikheil Saakashvili, the Student Hall’s requests for collaboration, involving him in the diffusion of the document in 14 points.

The Deputy premier reminded how the 14 points closely reflect a political document that has just been approved by the Georgian Government . ‘The visit to Rondine represents a further step to strengthen the relations between our countries’ - concluded Mr. Baramidze.

‘This meeting is a source of hope for young generations and a testimony of the fact that peoples can make their voices heard. I count on the possibility of other Caucasian authorities to act as Georgia did, in favour of peace in the region’ -  stated Rondine’s President, Franco Vaccari, during the public round table in the Hall of the Great of the Province in the presence of important local authorities.
