The Rondine Popular Democracy goes over political difficulties and crosses Georgia and Azerbaijan, finding real appreciation and support by academic, civil, political and religious institutions.One week on the road, through mountainous routes and valleys that lead from Baku to Tbilisi. The delegation of Rondine, mainly made up by international students and in particular Caucasian, Lebanese, Israeli, Macedonian, Russian young people, is following this route step by step, meeting after meeting.
In the capital of Georgia, the friendship and cooperation between Rondine and the main Georgian universities, such as Tbilisi State University, Ilia Chavchavadze University, Tbilisi State University–Jakashvili, Davis Guramishvili Georgian International University, has been consolidated and Mr. Franco Vaccari, President of Rondine, has been granted of Honorary Degree in Conflict Resolution at University of Sakumy, a University attended also by Georgian refugees. Likewise, at Baku State University first concrete steps have been taken forward the selection for first Azerbaijani students to study at Rondine next year.
Important the meetings held in Tbilisi with Temuri Yakobashvili, State Minister for Reintegration, and Alexandre Nalbandov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, where they have confirmed their support to Rondine initiative focused on the dialogue and peace starting from young students and their undertaking.
Also the European Commission delegation, met in Georgia, and the OSCE, met in Baku, have renewed their support and appreciation to initiatives such as Rondine’s one, aimed to realize something real for a peaceful cohabitation in the Caucasian area.
Another important step is the interreligious dialogue, as foreseen in the 14th point of the Document for the Peace in the Caucasus. A dialogue made concrete by Rondine which this week has met in Baku the First Counsellor of Sheik Pashazadeh, who has agreed on the principle that tolerance and mutual respect need young people education to be concrete. Also Bishop Giuseppe Pasotto and the second man of the Georgian Orthodox Patriarchate, met in Tbilisi, have given support to initiatives as Cittadella della Pace ones which use study and cohabitation in order to bring hope seeds in conflict situations.
