During the visit of the delegation of Rondine to the Foreign Office in Baku, the proposal made by Association Rondine of selecting an Armenian student and an Azerbaijani one from Nagorno Karabach, who could live together in the International Hall of Residence, gained its first official appreciation from Araz Azimov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.“We appreciate the availability and the confidence – said Mr Franco Vaccari, President of Rondine – we would like to find the contacts for the next selection during this same trip, looking for them both in the refugee camps and in the conflict areas”.
The idea was appreciated by the Azerbaijan Deputy Foreign Minister, who stated: “It’s really important for Armenian and Aizerbaijan people to live together in Nagorno Karabach. Our government will support this initiative which foresees young people to live together in order to find new ways for conflict resolution. Maybe, the day of the peace will come sooner if we receive the contribution from the civil society and we do not consider the matter only from a political point of view”. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs stayed for a long time with young people from Rondine, encouraging them in carrying out their undertaking, while they invited Azimov to visit Cittadella della Pace.
The Deputy Foreign Minister referred also that he had read and appreciated the Document in 14 points for the peace in the Caucasus: “I ratify every point and I will support this dream along with you, although there is a lot of work to do”.
At the end, president Vaccari wanted to thank the Deputy Foreign Minister and the governmental authorities of Azerbaijan for the warm and sincere welcome, looking back on the long good friendship between Italy and their country.
For the first time, the delegation of Rondine has gone to Baku in order to interest and establish bonds of friendship with young people and their associations, political, religious and academic institutions, and to develop the project Ventidipacesucaucaso (Winds of peace on Caucasus), which culminates in the Friendship Trip to the South of Caucasus and Turkey, until the 1st of August.
