First day of “Rondine” friendship trip to the Caucasus, in Baku.The meeting between the delegation led by the president Franco Vaccari and Araz Azimov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan gave good results. A proposal came up from the meeting: to select an Armenian student and an Azerbaijan one, both from Nagorno Kerabach. The idea was appreciated by the Azerbaijan Deputy Foreign Minister who underlined the importance for Armenian and Aizerbaijan people to live togheter. Moreover, Azimov urged students from Rondine to visit the contested territory. Araz Azimov read and appreciated the Document in 14 points for the peace in the Caucasus, while president Vaccari wanted to thank the governmental authorities of Azerbaijan for the warm and sincere welcome, looking back on the long good relationship between Italy and Azeirbaijan. The delegation moved to the Baku State University, where the will of starting a collaboration between universities was reaffirmed in the presence of the Deputy Rector,lecturers and students. The University of Baku declared itself to be favourably disposed towards starting and supporting projects with Italian Universities and with “Rondine”. During the afternoon, the delegation met Garay Faradjov, the collaborator of the first Vice Minister of the Department for Refugee Affairs, who deals with refugees in Azerbaijan, about 700.000 out of 9 millions inhabitants of the Country. “We want to solve the problem of the refugees through peace” said G. Faradjov, supporting and encouraging the iniziative promoted by the Association “Rondine”. At the end of the day the delegation met the right-hand man of the sheikh Pashazadeh, Muslim authority of utmost importance of the Caucasus and then they visited the Mosque of Baku. Salman Musayev, the sheikh first adviser, stressed the attention on the importance of the interfaith dialogue which passes across the intercultural dialogue and the value of tollerance and respect of other religions and cultures. |
