“When I was little, at home, we used to whisper when we said the word “German”. Today we have many friends in Germany! Rondine is here, full excitement, to testify hope through the voices of its students. It is not true that enemies will be enemies forever!”. This is how Franco Vaccari, the president of the organization, started the first academic meeting of the friendship trip in the South Caucasus, held in Azerbaijan.

The State University of Baku, in its elegant building, welcomed Rondine’s delegation in a climate of incomparable friendship and politeness.

The most prestigious university of the capital celebrated this year its 90^th anniversary. With its 1.800 students, its sixteen faculties, its 126 departments and two Research Institutes for Physics and Mathematics, is classified among the first Azeri academic institutions for the quality of its services and professionalism of its teaching staff.

“We are here to start something by putting together things that already exist. We are here to start something that could be precious for Rondine’s project. Furthermore we can promote together student mobility, study peace and share ideas. Because there is nothing more practical than a good idea”: affirmed the Vice Rector of the University of Siena and Director of the Inter-university Center for Youth, Education and Orientation G.E.O.

Rondine, the State University of Baku and the G.E.O. with its nine universities: together to make agreements and create study, research and cooperation opportunities between Italy and Azerbaijan. Many possibilities: Tempus projects, agreements in favour of student mobility and the immediate will to sign an agreement protocol to build up the ever more profitable relations between Rondine, the G.E.O. and Azeri Universities.

The friendship relations of this country with Italy have strengthened the availability of the Pro-Rector Ismail Alyev and of the Vice rector of international relations Elkhan Huseynov. “The Mediterranean sea and the Caspian sea join us, as was said in the first conference for peace in Paris, and Italians have always demonstrated to understand this fact. As you have already helped us in the past, I am sure that these 14 points will help us to try and solve the issue Nagorno-Karabakh”.
